Lamacoid Colours & Finish Guide for Industrial Labels
Aran Awards produces engraved lamacoids, panel labels, valve tags, machine plates and industrial identification products in Hamilton for electricians, HVAC teams, manufacturers, facility managers and contractors across Canada.
The colour names below are taken from the lamacoid and Trotec TroLase material media in our library. They give you a clearer starting point than a generic colour list, while final availability still depends on sheet thickness, quantity and current raw material stock.
How to Read a Lamacoid Colour
A slash colour name tells you the face colour first and the engraved core colour second. Black/White means a black surface that engraves to white lettering. Yellow/Black means a yellow surface that engraves to black lettering. Three-ply materials such as White/Black/White or Black/White/Black are used when a thicker sandwich construction is useful.
Additional Named Colours in the Swatch Set

Thickness, Material and Mounting
0.8 mm
Thin lamacoid for lighter plates, overlays and areas where a low profile matters.
1.6 mm
The common choice for many panel labels, equipment IDs and day-to-day industrial lamacoids.
3.2 mm
A stiffer option for larger tags, heavier-duty labels or applications that need more rigidity.
Mounting options: drilled holes, slots, rounded corners, adhesive backing, screw mounting, rivet mounting and cable-tie layouts are available. For harsher environments, Aran can also quote stainless steel, aluminium, brass or other metal tags.

Lamacoid FAQ
What does a lamacoid colour such as Black/White mean?
The first colour is the top face of the laminate and the second colour is the engraved core. Black/White means a black face with white engraved lettering.
Can you match a colour shown in the media library?
Yes. Send the colour name or a screenshot from the swatch/gallery and we will confirm the closest available lamacoid sheet, thickness and finish before production.
Are metallic lamacoid finishes the same as metal tags?
No. Metallic lamacoid finishes are engraving laminates with a metal-look face. If the application needs actual metal, Aran can quote stainless steel, aluminium, brass or other metal tags.
What thickness should I choose?
Many panel and equipment labels use 1.6 mm material. Thinner 0.8 mm stock is useful for low-profile plates, while 3.2 mm material adds rigidity. We can recommend the practical thickness once we know the size and mounting method.
Can lamacoids be drilled or supplied with adhesive?
Yes. We can produce drilled holes, slots, rounded corners, adhesive-backed labels, screw or rivet layouts and cable-tie tags.
How fast can Aran produce lamacoid labels?
Simple orders using available material can often move quickly. Larger panel schedules, unusual colours, specialty finishes or metal tags are quoted with a production timeline after the label list is reviewed.
